January 27 is St. Nina's day in the Orthodox Church. The latter was Georgia's evangelist ca. 300 AD, so it is unsurprising that Nina is a very common name in that region, and the day dedicated to her, Ninaoba (Ninooba), is a notable feast. Having some Georgian ancestry, it is equally unsurprising that this happens to be my name, too. Extraordinarily ordinary. I've been told that in the bygone era, your "guardian angel's" day was more important than your birthday.
Why am I mentioning all this? Because I like presents!
And a cold, crisp, sunny afternoon—after days of sleepy dreariness—was one of my immaterial gifts today. :)
