Funny creatures deer are. Some say that they are as close as a wild animal would come to domestication without being domestic. (Nara, Japan might disagree!) Deer, in this case, the mule kind, allow you to approach them to the point of being able to capture this image with a smartphone. This is probably not the best strategy in an area where humans hunt them. And they are terrified of dogs, but not cars. This is where natural selection would step in eventually, huh?

I do admit that I've once witnessed several white-tailed deer at an intersection looking both ways before crossing to the other side. So, perhaps, that time might arrive sooner than we think!
